I have noticed that despite the tremendous growth in the number of cars in Beijing driving manners have yet to develop concomitantly.

 

Rude driving takes many forms. In Beijing, the most prevalent form is honking at other drivers and bicyclists. The constant drone of senseless honking does nothing to expedite the honker's jouney; it does, however, create a maddening level of noise pollution and considerable ill-will among ohter drivers. The streets of Beijing would be vastly more pleasant without all the honking; and my guess is that in the absence of honking, lots of people would go to work happier and office productivity increase as a result.

 

Another major type of rudeness on the road is the failure to yield to others. It can be very frustration to see driver after driver refuse to allow a car into a line at an intersection. Of course, no driver should have to yield to every car; other drivers should extend teh same courtesy. If each driver in a line at an intersection would just yield to one car, the traffic would move much more efficiently and everyone would benefit.

 

Although I know that many friends hate everything in Japan, from people to culture, I still want to say that in Tokyo, people can drive for weeks in most areas without hearing the sound of a single horn and drivers regularly yield to others with a smile and a wave. I really look forward to the day when these will happen on the streets of our city.

 

By the way, it is not wise that our government limits the number of cars moving on the road.

   回国后，主要是在怀旧。

   最近我想起了我初中发起的神奇运动--验纯。

   就是轻轻地拍击后脑勺--手指迅速压缩头发间隙的空气而产生轻微爆鸣声。

   我记得当时坐在我前面的学习大牛--Sun 涛，被我这样拍了一年。

   后来我俩中考成绩一样。

   说明，这一年的拍击，还是卓有成效的。

   中学班上不少同学都被我拍过了，也有不少主动上来索拍的。（可惜大学的时候，只有Yao 彬 Lee 凯愿意被拍，我谢谢你俩）

   后来我立志要对物理老师验纯。

   未果。

 

   我很想知道，到底是谁大不敬地说我最尊敬的物理老师长得像史努比？

   Yao彬是我们宿舍最有才最有思想的人了。

  

   Yao彬在建行看见我的时候，一句惊天“我操！”脱口而出。

   我估计Yao彬天天在建行里“我操”外加来办理业务的全是大爷大妈所以耳背。

   总之，我觉得，其他人包括和Yao彬没有防弹玻璃相隔的同事，都像什么都没有发生过一样。

   后来我想，即使把这句感叹词换成同分贝的一个惊天大屁，也会有人至少侧目一下。

   甚是诡异。

   Yao彬not only在建行里脱口而出动感发语词，but also服务态度颇为恶劣。

   我就不描述了。

   我在那里走来走去，看来看去，大堂经理问我：先生，您办理什么业务啊？

   我说：那个人是我大学哥们儿，来看看他。

   我原以为大堂经理会说：有事儿没事儿？没事儿走人。

   没想到大堂经理立刻两眼放光：哈哈，这样啊，好啊好啊。业务多的时候，他挺辛苦的。

   仿佛我是来看行长似的。

   嗯？等等。

   为什么Yao彬敢在工作时间高声“我操！”，敢以恶劣质态度对待大爷大娘，大堂经理对他如此客气？

   这说明，我们彬哥其实是有势力的，是Niubility的。
